About this project
A homeowner in Rockingham called us after a power outage left their sectional garage door stuck. They had released the door manually during the outage, but once the power came back the opener wouldn’t reconnect. The motor could be heard running, but the door wasn’t moving.
On inspection, our technician found the existing Controll-A-Door opener was no longer driving the door and wasn’t worth repairing. A bird’s nest had also been built right in among the wiring next to the old unit.
The old opener was removed and a new Jaytech 1200 V4+ sectional door opener was installed, connected to the existing power point and programmed with its open and close limits.
The lifting cables were also replaced, and a full door service was carried out free of charge, checking the springs, drums, rollers and tracks and testing the door with the new opener through several full open and close cycles.
If an opener runs but the door doesn’t move after being manually released, it’s worth getting it checked rather than forcing it. In this case a new opener, new cables and a full service had the door running smoothly and reliably again.
