About this project
A homeowner in Maylands called us about their motorised roller door. Years earlier the door had been hit by a car and knocked off its track, and it had never been put back properly. Over time the damaged track had become a problem and needed fixing.
The track repair only needed a couple of screws, so our technician fixed it as part of a full door service, refitting and securing the track so the door runs straight in its guides again.
During the service, our technician found that the springs inside the roller door’s drum showed significant rust and wear, consistent with age and a lack of regular servicing. One spring had snapped, causing a loss of tension.
The tension was adjusted during the service, but the door still could not be brought to proper balance. Given the condition of the springs and the age of the door, its remaining service life is expected to be limited, and our technician has recommended replacing the door in the near future.
Even when the repair itself is small, a full service gives the homeowner an honest picture of where their door is at, so they can plan and budget for a replacement before the door fails rather than after.
