About this project
A homeowner in Canning Vale called us when their double sectional garage door dropped on one side and was left hanging crooked in the opening.
Our technician found that one of the lifting cables had snapped where it attaches to the bottom bracket, with the strands frayed and pulled apart. With only one side still holding, the door tilted and could not run evenly in its tracks.
Both cables were replaced with a new set so the door lifts evenly from each side. The worn bottom brackets and rollers were also swapped for a new pair of Centurion bottom brackets with rollers, giving the new cables a solid anchor point.
The door was then fully realigned in its tracks, the cables were wound back onto the drums, and the door was tested through its full travel to make sure it opened and closed level.
A snapped cable is one of the most common reasons a sectional door ends up hanging on an angle. Replacing both cables and the bottom brackets together means the door is balanced again and both sides wear at the same rate from here.
