About this project
A homeowner in Erskine called us out when their double sectional garage door dropped on one side and was left hanging crooked in the opening, so it couldn’t open or close properly.
On inspection, our technician found the lifting cables and bottom brackets had failed. These parts anchor the cables to the bottom of the door and carry its full weight, so when they give way the door drops out of level and isn’t safe to run.
The old cables and bottom brackets were removed, and a new pair of bottom brackets and new lifting cables were fitted, wound evenly onto both drums and tensioned to balance the door.
The door was then realigned so it sat level and square in its tracks, and a full door service was carried out, checking the springs, drums, rollers, hinges and tracks, lubricating the moving parts and testing the door with the existing Centurion opener through several full open and close cycles.
A door that has dropped on one side shouldn’t be forced up or down. Replacing the cables and bottom brackets together, realigning the door and servicing it had this one balanced and running smoothly again.
