About this project
A homeowner in Baldivis booked us to look at their double sectional garage door after the lifting cables had become worn and were no longer safe to rely on.
The lifting cables run from the bottom of the door up to the drums on the torsion bar, and they carry the full weight of the door every time it opens and closes. Once they start to wear or fray, they can snap without warning and leave the door hanging unevenly.
Our technician removed the old cables and fitted a new pair, winding them evenly onto both drums and setting the tension so the door sat level and lifted square.
A full door service was carried out at the same time, checking the springs, drums, rollers, hinges and tracks, lubricating the moving parts and testing the door with the existing Steel-Line opener through several full open and close cycles.
Replacing worn cables before they fail is much safer and cheaper than dealing with a snapped cable. With new cables and a full service, the door was left balanced and running smoothly again.
