About this project
A homeowner in Falcon called us after the lifting cables on their sectional garage door snapped.
The cables run from the bottom corners of the door up to the drums on the spring shaft, and they take the weight of the door as it opens and closes. With a cable gone, the door can no longer lift evenly and can jam or drop on one side, so it is not safe to use.
Our technician removed the broken cables and fitted a new set, winding them evenly onto the drums on both sides so the door lifts level.
A full door service was then carried out, checking the springs, rollers, hinges and tracks and testing the door with the opener through several full open and close cycles.
Snapped cables are usually a sign of wear, so replacing both cables at once means the door is balanced again and neither side is left running on an old cable that could be next to fail.
