About this project
A homeowner in Canning Vale called us to replace a broken spring on their sectional garage door. When our technician arrived, he confirmed one of the torsion springs above the door had snapped, and the rest of the springs were rusted and worn.
Torsion springs carry most of the weight of a sectional door. With one broken, the door becomes very heavy, puts a lot of strain on the opener, and is unsafe to lift.
Our technician removed the old springs and fitted a new brown spring set. The lifting cables were replaced at the same time, and new standard cable drums were fitted at no extra charge, so the whole lifting system was renewed together.
The new springs were tensioned to suit the door, the cables were wound evenly onto the drums, and the door was tested through its full travel to make sure it was balanced and running smoothly.
When one spring breaks, the other is usually close behind. Replacing the springs, cables and drums as a set means the parts wear evenly from here, so the homeowner is not left waiting for the next part to fail.
