About this project
We were called out to a rental property in Mindarie after a car bumped into the double sectional garage door, leaving dents across two of the panels near the centre of the door.
On inspection, our technician found that the impact had also bent the wind strut, the horizontal steel reinforcement that runs across the back of the panel to keep it rigid and stop it flexing.
The damaged wind strut was replaced with a new one, and the dented panels were panel-beaten to straighten them back into shape so the sections line up and the door closes evenly.
The door was then tested through several full open and close cycles to make sure it ran smoothly with the new strut in place.
A bump from a car doesn’t always mean a full panel or door replacement. Replacing the strut and panel-beating the damage brought this door back into good working order at a fraction of the cost.
