About this project
The owners of a home in Doubleview called us when their sliding gate, driven by a Centsys D5 Smart motor, closed and then would not open again.
Our technician inspected the motor, the gear rack and the track. The most likely cause was a fault in the motor’s limit sensor or limit control system. When the limits are not read correctly, the gate can travel too far into the closed position and press hard against its end stop.
That extra pressure loads up the gearbox, and once it is jammed tight the motor cannot pull the gate back open. This kind of fault can look like a dead motor, even when the motor itself is still working.
Our technician released the pressure, got the gate moving again and ran it through its open and close cycle to check it was travelling correctly.
Because limit faults can come and go, the recommendation was to monitor the gate rather than replace parts straight away. If the problem returns, the next step is a closer look at the motor’s limit system, with a repair or replacement of the motor if needed.
This job shows how we approach repairs: find the likely cause, explain it clearly, and avoid replacing parts the client may not need yet.
