About this project
A homeowner in Thornlie called us after the springs on their tilt garage door broke.
Tilt doors are lifted by pairs of extension springs mounted down each side of the door frame. When those springs fail, the door becomes very heavy to lift and can drop suddenly, so it is not safe to keep using.
Our technician removed the broken springs and fitted a new pair of silver Superlift springs, hooking them onto the frame and adjusting the tension rod at the bottom so the door is properly balanced.
The door was then tested through several full open and close cycles to check it lifted evenly, stayed open on its own and closed smoothly.
Broken tilt door springs are a common repair, and replacing them in pairs keeps the tension even on both sides so the door runs straight and the new springs wear at the same rate.
